The Ymuno Festival adventure started in the spring of 2009. Two gents by the names of Asher Awelan and Ross Henry Thompson sat in a pub in Sowerby Bridge listening to Kirk McElhinney and Jason Singh (of The Safires) entertain a packed crowd with their sensational music. A few drinks later and some crazy ideas were flowing about inviting these minstrels to North Wales and putting on a summer roof party in Colwyn Bay.
They invited a bunch of like minded friends from different communities around North Wales, Halifax and Manchester. Before long their rooftop party was awash with food, drink and dancing feet. Old acquaintances reunited, good friendships enjoyed, new friends and communities collided.
From those small and humble beginnings, Ymuno Festival 2010 moved from an over crowded rooftop in Colwyn Bay to huge Tipis in beautiful green fields. Selling hundreds of tickets far and wide the event hosted 12 acts over three days. Ymuno Festival goers enjoyed performances from 6ixToys, The Mouse Outfit, Chloe Leavers, Julia Harris, Stuart McCallum & Band, Matt Deficit, The Safires, The Nice Sharp Pencils, Kev Fox, Becca and The Broken Biscuits and more...
Reviews of the festival speak of the quality of the acts and chilled vibe of the event, of it's locally sourced hearty Community Breakfast, inviting Fire Pits that inspired song late into the night. The success of last year has inspired us to make Ymuno Festival 2011 just as memorable, continuing to focus on local quality and connecting communities.
So, come and join in, be part of it - bring the people you know and love. We've set a date, sorted out a venue, booked some decent bands, and we're inviting all our friends again, and asking them to invite theirs... let's have a great time, connect with friends new and old, collide our communities - make something special happen again...
